5 Tips For Dressing to Stay Warm and Dry in the Snow

1. Dress in layers. It's important to understand that dressing for the snow is a process. It's not just a matter of buying a pair of ski pants and a ski jacket, and you're good to go. You need to consider the under layers that you use as much as the outer layers. Get good quality thermal underlayers and a great synthetic fleece to go under that ski jacket and pants, and you'll be set to be out on the snow on the coldest of days. Ignore the underlayers and you may not.
2. Avoid natural fibers, especially next to your skin. There are some wonderful fibers like cotton and wool, and they have been in use in cold and wet climates for many years. This is because they were the best available years ago. But now there are much better synthetic fabrics available, which do a better job of keeping you both warm and dry.
Cotton and wool attract damp. Cotton next to your skin will absorb your sweat and so leave you feeling chilled and damp. A high quality synthetic fabric is designed to wick moisture away from your skin and encourage the moisture to travel to the next layer. This is what is known as "breathing". The fabric allows the moisture generated by sweat and exercise to pass through the fabric, and the fabric doesn't trap the moisture and become damp. A natural fabric such as cotton doesn't do this satisfactorily, and will get damp over time. Whilst cotton and wool will retain heat well in some circumstances, such as when you are continuing moving, they make you cold and damp very quickly when you stop and your body cools, and so should be avoided.
3. Use high quality synthetic fabrics. There are some excellent high quality synthetic fabrics available, Polarfleece and Gore Tex are 2 that you have probably heard about already, primarily because they are very good. High quality fabrics are of course more expensive. However if you factor in the cost of the higher quality ski wear over the life of the ski clothing you'll find that the extra cost is not so much.
That's because the high quality fabrics will usually last much longer than lower quality copies, so although you are paying more initially you are buying skiwear that will outlive the cheaper ski clothing, and will pay for itself in the long run. There are many fabrics that are copies of the high quality fabrics, but don't perform as well or last as long. A good quality ski jacket, for example, should have you skiing and comfortable when you may well be back in the apartment if you were wearing a poor quality jacket.
4. Buy a known brand name. There are some very well known brand names in the ski clothing industry. Names that are well known amongst skiers for the quality of their ski gear, and with a solid reputation to protect. Names such as North Face and Patagonia. And there is a stack of ski clothing with brand names that you would never have heard of, usually cheaper. It can be a false economy to buy a cheap unknown brand. Stick to those that are known to produce high quality long lasting ski clothing.
5. Don't forget the accessories. It wouldn't be the first time that someone had all the best ski clothing, but cheap gloves, and ended up back in the apartment because their hands were frozen. Or bought poor goggles, and couldn't ski because they fogged up all the time. Don't spend all your money on your ski clothing and skimp on the accessories. Good quality gloves and goggles are important.

Flu Prevention and Treatment With Home Remedies

Cold or flu?
Both the common cold and the flu cause sore throat, cough and runny nose. Although the flu usually manifests more severe symptoms, the only way to distinguish a cold from a serious flu is for the doctor to send throat and nose samples to the lab.
How to prevent the flu
Prepare your resistance to infections before the cold season. Even if you get the flu, there are chances that you develop a milder form.
  • Eat healthy
  • Do daily aerobic exercises.
  • Take multivitamin and mineral supplements every day (including beta-carotene, vitamin C and E, flavonoids, selenium and zinc).
  • Avoid fatigue and stress.
  • Avoid crowds in the flu season.
  • Drink echinacea tea, take tincture or tablets 2 or 3 times a week during winter. Take one dose every day, if you come in contact with someone who already got the flu.
  • Eat fresh garlic or take a garlic tablet every day.
  • Preventively, once every three weeks during winter take a homeopathic remedy.
Beware of infections
At the first sign of the flu, gargle in the morning and evening half a glass of warm water with 2 drops of tea tree and geranium oil.
How to treat the flu
Treat the flu seriously, because it can lead to severe complications. Stay home so you won't spread the infection and don't leave the bed, because you need all the strength to face the viruses. Pay attention to medicine which is sold without prescription: they can mask some unpleasant symptoms, making you think you are healthy when in reality, you still haven't healed yet. Stay at home at least one day after the temperature has returned to normal.
Diet
Drink plenty of fluids without alcohol and caffeine, like water, fruit juices, rye water and medicinal teas (which you'll see in the phytotherapy part). Blackcurrant tea can ease a sore throat and provide an additional amount of vitamin C, which fights the infection.

Great Skin Care Finds at the Health Food Store

Aztec Indian Healing Clay
This ancient skin care method involves mixing powdered clay with water and raw organic apple cider vinegar to help neutralize the acidity. The result is a foamy, mousse-like paste that's worn as a mask for about ten minutes at a time or until you begin to feel the clay pull away from your skin. The clay is supposedly made of mineral-rich volcanic ash with a negative charge, pulling positive charged dirt and debris from your pores. In addition to cleaning pores, the clay also claims to increase circulation.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil soothes the senses as well as irritated skin. Its anti-bacterial properties make it a veritable opponent for acne and blemishes without the unwanted side effects that come with other treatments like benzoyl peroxide. Tea tree oil is also effective in treating dandruff and preventing nail disease.
Goat's Milk Soap
Unlike water-based soaps, un-processed goat's milk offers many skin-nourishing benefits. Fat molecules moisturize, vitamin A repairs damaged skin and fights acne and wrinkles, alpha hydroxy acids promote cell turnover and minerals like selenium help to prevent skin cancer. And I just liked it for the smell!

This magic soap is certified organic, fair trade, vegetable-based and has about a million uses. 3 Key Steps to Natural Breast Enlargement

Here are 3 easy steps to get bigger breasts naturally, albeit over a considerable period of time -

1. Breast Enhancement Creams - Natural breast enlargement is best facilitated by breast enhancement creams and similar natural supplements. The application of breast enlargement creams need to be done with care and patience, for they can yield results better than any other form of breast enhancement exercise in particular.
• For this, you need to cup your breasts up and then slowly massage them with the cream on your fingertips. Applying too much pressure will make the effort stand for a lost cause, while applying too less of breast enlargement creams can undo the whole purpose as well. So you need to know and strike the perfect balance between application and pressure points to help attain a near-perfect, attractive bosom!
2. Herbal Solutions - Herbs are one of the best ways to get bigger breasts naturally. Some of the genuine herbal products that are available online today can help initiate the production of the hormones such as estrogen. This helps in cell generation, which then consequently ends up in helping the breasts to grow at a slow but steady rate, albeit naturally.
• Yam, fennel, palmetto as well as fenugreek are some of the prime examples of such herbal natural breast enlargement inducers. And since they are now easily accessible thanks to online breast enhancement supplements like Triactol, all one needs to do is to contact such a dealer through their website!
3. Exercises - Natural exercises can also help stimulate breast growth and help you gain a fuller and firmer bust-line. Although such exercises are often advised as a part of yoga or exercises of the like, they can also help improve the shape and size of the breasts

Skin Care For Cold Weather

  1. Remove dry skin. This is called "Exfoliation". Use a loofah or body scrub on your body to exfoliate dry skin, however, you must be much more careful with the delicate facial skin. Even washing your face with a soft washcloth may be sufficient to gently exfoliate dry winter skin from the face. Take care with facial scrubs or peels as vigorous cleansing of the face may cause irritation or breakouts.
  2. Drink water. Keeping your skin hydrated from the inside is added insurance to keep skin feeling and looking it's best. Drink up to 8 glasses of water or green tea. Caffeinated beverages rob skin of hydration, so limit coffee, soda and other caffeinated beverages.
  3. Protect skin from UV rays. It is important to use a sunscreen all year round to limit skin's exposure to damaging UV rays. If you moisturizer does not include an SPF just simply add a few drops of your favorite sunscreen coupled with a few drops of your moisturizer to your palm. Warm the two together and apply to your face, neck and décolleté.
  4. Night time Treatment. Caring for your skin over-night is very important. While your body is at rest during the night it restores itself. Make sure to cleanse all traces of makeup off your face and top with a rich moisturizer. Use a dedicated eye cream around the eye contours because the delicate skin around the eyes is thinner than the rest of your face and cannot absorb the richer facial moisturizers. Rich facial moisturizers may cause your eyes to puff up and swell, so always use an eye cream on and around the eye contour.
  5. Hand, feet and Lips. Don't forget your extremities in the cold weather. Dry cracked heels, lips or hands may bleed or ache with discomfort. Use a rich emollient like Vaseline or Aquaphor on hands and feet and cover with cotton gloves or socks to retain moisture while you sleep. Slough away dry flaky skin with a pumice stone on feet or a loofah during your shower as an added measure. Slather Vaseline or Aquaphor on lips just prior to bed for added hydration. Licking your lips will only add to dryness and chapping. Keep lips slick with balm or moisturizing ointment all day long.
  6. Avoid hot showers. As comforting as they may seem, they rob the skin of moisture! Try to use tepid water and avoid extreme temperatures on the skin all year round. Follow with baby-oil or body moisturizer after your shower or bath to lock in the moisture.
  7. Avoid Alcohol Based Skin Care Products. Alcohol is drying and will further rob your skin of much need moisture. Look at the top 3-4 ingredients in your skin care products and avoid using these products in the cold moisture-sapping winter weather.
  8. Use a humidifier. Keep one on overnight in your bedroom to add moisture to the air around you. This in turn will keep the heated air from robbing the hydration from your skin.
  9. Skip the soap. Soaps can be drying and harsh on the skin. Use a moisturizing cleansing bar or lotion, that will be less drying. This applies to face, hands and body.
  10. Most importantly: Add moisture. The cold outdoors coupled with overheated homes, offices and cars both contribute to drying out the skin. Using a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type both morning and night is the absolute best way to treat dryness.
