Great Skin Care Finds at the Health Food Store

Aztec Indian Healing Clay
This ancient skin care method involves mixing powdered clay with water and raw organic apple cider vinegar to help neutralize the acidity. The result is a foamy, mousse-like paste that's worn as a mask for about ten minutes at a time or until you begin to feel the clay pull away from your skin. The clay is supposedly made of mineral-rich volcanic ash with a negative charge, pulling positive charged dirt and debris from your pores. In addition to cleaning pores, the clay also claims to increase circulation.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil soothes the senses as well as irritated skin. Its anti-bacterial properties make it a veritable opponent for acne and blemishes without the unwanted side effects that come with other treatments like benzoyl peroxide. Tea tree oil is also effective in treating dandruff and preventing nail disease.
Goat's Milk Soap
Unlike water-based soaps, un-processed goat's milk offers many skin-nourishing benefits. Fat molecules moisturize, vitamin A repairs damaged skin and fights acne and wrinkles, alpha hydroxy acids promote cell turnover and minerals like selenium help to prevent skin cancer. And I just liked it for the smell!
Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap
This magic soap is certified organic, fair trade, vegetable-based and has about a million uses. It's comprised of coconut, jojoba, and hemp oil as well as pure essential oils that produce a rich lather without the use of harsh sulfates. The soap is incredibly concentrated so diluting in water is recommended, which means one bottle will go a long way.
Beeswax
I love using beeswax-based lip balms. The wax provides a barrier, protecting your skin while still allowing it to breathe and works as an emollient, to soften the skin. Beeswax is also anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory making it an excellent treatment minor skin irritations.
Pumpkin Peel
MyChelle Dermaceuticals Incredible Pumpkin Peel is a cruelty-free, magical blend of pumpkin pulp, enzymes and fermented juice, which works to exfoliate and nourish the skin. This rejuvenating, antioxidant-rich formula leaves skin feeling smooth, clean and glowing. An added bonus is that you'll smell like pumpkin spice!
Buckthorn Facial Cream
Sibu Beauty's Repair & Protect Sea Buckthorn Facial Cream is free of parabens, allergens and preservatives, but it's chock-full of skin nourishing benefits. Omega 7 fatty acids boosts collagen production and promotes tissue recovery, fighting against signs of aging like dryness and wrinkles.
